In 2003 a potential new world record was harvested. It was seized by the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources near Dryden in Northwestern Ontario.
Last Summer Hawkins was contacted to mount the deer. At the request of the MNR the mount was kept a secret and under lock and key till it was picked up.
There are a few measurements of the antlers on the Internet. The
lowest unofficial score was provided to us from the Dryden MNR.
The score was gross 217 7/8 and a net score of 192 7/8. The Hanson
buck from Saskatchewan still holds the record of 220 6/8 gross,
213 5/8 net score.
