Packaging & Shipping Procedures
Important Changes Spring
2008
All trophy fish for shipment to our studio in Winnipeg should be handled in the following manner.
Care in the field: When a trophy has been caught in the early morning I would
recommend that the guide return to your lodge and have the trophy
packaged and labeled, (name, address and licence number) then placed
in a freezer. If this is not possible, place trophy into a water soaked
burlap sack and store in an area of the boat that is not affected
by direct sunlight.
DO NOT place meat fish in sack as direct contact with trophy will effect skin tone and may be visible after the taxidermy process is completed. Store all meat fish in a separate area.
Packaging Procedure: Our heavy mil plastic tubing is packaged in a continuous roll and is available to all lodges wishing to utilize out taxidermy services. Trophy boxes are also available for bulk shipments in addition to out receipt books which will keep your trophy fish records up to date.
- Each trophy should be incased in a length of plastic tubing prior to freezing. Tie one end of the tubing securely. DO NOT cut tubing short, allow enough to overlap tail area and tie securely. The tail may also be protected by placing a wedge shaped piece of cardboard prior to overlapping the plastic tubing.
- (Attn. Lodges / Outfitters) Receipt books are available and each trophy should be accompanied by one of our receipts containing the owners name, address, type of specimen and mounting instructions if at all possible. Place receipt in brown envelope supplied and tie securely to the tail area. Receipt books are in triplicate and best utilized in the following manner: Whit copy: Given to customer Pink copy: Inserted in the brown envelope supplied and then securely tied onto specimen Yellow copy: Remains in the receipt book for your records.
- Trophy boxes are self addressed and re-enforced corrugated containers for the transportation of trophies to our studio in Winnipeg. Pack as many trophies as possible per carton thus avoiding unnecessary movement which may result in damage to the specimen: fins, tails, etc.
Shipping Procedures: Ship via Air Freight of Air Express COLLECT unless another reliable carrier is available in your area. Indicate on waybill (phone on arrival) as we are on call 24 hours daily. All calls will be dealt with immediately.
